Since its establishment in 1978, Impact Community Services has been a cornerstone of positive change in Bundaberg. Locally headquartered, the organisation operates under three guiding pillars—Live, Grow, and Prosper—to adapt to the evolving needs of the community.
In a recent Welcome to Bundaberg Partner Up Podcast episode, Stacie Rae, Manager of Intensive Family Support (IFS), shed light on the organisation’s collaborative approach and the significant impact it has on Bundaberg families.
Supporting Families in Crisis
The Intensive Family Support (IFS) program provides direct, hands-on assistance to families dealing with complex challenges such as domestic violence, substance abuse, and disabilities.
With a compassionate walk-alongside approach, the IFS team helps families establish routines, improve living conditions, and connect with counselling and other essential services.
“We’re there every step of the way, empowering families to create lasting change,” Stacie shared during the podcast.
Collaborative Success: Family Integrated Case Management
One of Impact’s most notable initiatives is the Family Integrated Case Management (FICM) model. Through this collaborative approach, the organisation works with multiple partners to provide comprehensive support for families in crisis.
In one case, Impact partnered with Edon Place, Queensland Police, and DV Connect to assist a mother and her five children in escaping a dangerous situation.
“This is why collaboration matters,” Stacie emphasised. “We achieve so much more together.”
The Working Together Commitment
The Working Together Commitment is a framework developed to strengthen partnerships and build trust among Bundaberg’s organisations. This framework sets clear expectations, addresses challenges, and ensures alignment on shared goals.
While initially designed to address issues of family and domestic violence, the commitment has grown to benefit other sectors across the community.
“It’s a tool for building trust and creating positive change,” Stacie explained.
Building a Connected Community
As Impact Community Services continues to grow, its focus remains on fostering connection and collaboration.
“True change comes from empowering families and fostering connections,” Stacie said. “When we work together, we create lasting impact.”
